We are so happy that long winter lockdown is now done, and we have been allowed to reopen the gallery thanks to the government’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions that took effect on Monday 12th April. And if that wasn’t exciting enough… the sun is out!
To borrow what has become perhaps a rather overused phrase over the past year … It was what it was and somehow, the nation got through it. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to all those who have suffered, struggled, given so much of themselves for the greater good, been inspirational, been helpful, coped. Thank you and well done!
We are filled with excitement as we embrace the gloriously liberating fact that we can now have visitors inside the gallery again, albeit socially distanced, limited numbers at a time and everyone in masks, but still… Oh happy day!
All art galleries need people, and Artologie is no exception. We thrive on people and the conversations shared with our visitors, the inspirations they take away with them after spending time browsing, chatting, and enjoying being immersed in our vibrantly colourful space.
We warmly invite you to visit the gallery to see what we have on offer. You are welcome to browse, and to chat with Wendy about any pieces you like or find interesting. There are new pieces by all our regular artists as well as new product lines. We also have a new layout to the gallery. Remaining true to the building’s original occupant, a Victorian butcher’s shop, we enlisted the help of local, highly skilled independent joiner, Martin Western, to build our new dividing screen in a style that we think even the original butcher would have been delighted with. The wonderful positive to result from this new (required) installation is that there is now a dedicated artist studio space for Wendy. Who doesn’t love a win/win!
During lockdown, like many artists, Wendy immersed herself in the art of … being an artist again and as a result has produced a collection of intricate drawings and floral inspired paintings. She has also designed a range of bespoke stationery. Not only are they a wonderful display of her talents, but she loved being able to spend time exploring techniques and styles and going back to her design training. All her new work is on display in the gallery and Wendy is looking forward to extending the range over the coming months.
For an uplifting, inspiring, refreshing outing in Cuckfield, come in and visit us at Artologie. We are fully open and very excited to see our old customers and to welcome new ones. Pop in for a shop or a browse and a chat; we are looking forward to seeing you.
