Artists donate work for auction to support NHS

May 26, 2020

A GROUP of acclaimed artists from all over Sussex are staging an online auction to help make sure the county’s NHS carers have enough personal protection equipment in the battle to beat the coronavirus pandemic.

The prestigious Artologie gallery in Cuckfield, West Sussex is hosting the online event. Owner and curator, Wendy Rowark has built an interactive website enabling would-be buyers to see the donated lots and place their bids.

“One hundred per cent of the proceeds will go to the NHS trust and the Artologie No18 gallery will cover the cost of packaging and delivery,” said Wendy.

“I invite the art loving community to visit and share the online auction to support both a local business and your NHS staff, volunteers and patients across Sussex. We wish the Artologie team the very best with their fundraiser.”

The artists who have signed up so far are: Naomi Munuo (limited edition screen print); Oliver Pyle (two original watercolours); Grant Dejonge ( four paintings); Wendy Rowark (two paintings); Flo Snook ((framed limited edition print); Vallé Dawkes (silver jewellery); Paul Allen (three oil paintings); Paul Goldfinch ( Photo reconstruction artwork); Caroline Wright (acrylic and resin canvas); Nichola Campbell (‘Framescape’ painting); Holly Bazett (oil painting); Moira McNair (framed oil painting); Melanie Hodge (two unframed limited edition prints); Karen Birchwood (framed original acrylic and collage canvas); Jill Iliffe (two original deep framed oil on canvas; Geraldine McGloin (semi porcelain cruet set).

There is great excitement in the gallery as we plan a pop-up exhibition for February 2022! Entitled Modern Love the exhibition will run from February 7 th to 21 st . (As the annual day of love, aka, Valentine’s Day, falls neatly within the run of the exhibition, we felt compelled to take a fresh look at our art, from a loving perspective of course!) Our featured artist is something a little different this time. We feel sure his collection will spark interest, curiosity, and conversation. In a further nod to Valentine’s Day, and specifically love, (yes, we are going all out in a lovely way), we have invited our artists to look at the relationship they have with their art and how love inspires them. Essentially, we have asked them to pop on some heart shaped glasses, and write about loving their art. It is all sure to be a bit of fabulous February fun!
